Tools of the trade - Mitre box for cutting the soap bars

Another tool for soap makers is the Mitre box. Here are some more details about a good miter box. Again from soapwizards.com:

Mitre Boxes Our mitre boxes are designed for cutting loaf soaps. They are made from 16 gauge, food grade, brushed finish, and stainless steel. We have two mitre boxes for you to choose from. Each mitre box is designed to meet specific needs. You know your needs better than anyone else and now you have the choice. The double slot mitre box will cut 1" and 2" thick slices. The single slot cuts a 3/4" thick slice. The thinner cut is often selected by overseas soapers because it will yield more slices from the loaf.

Tools of the trade for soap makers - metlers

The melter is maybe the essential most basic tool for soap makers. Of course you can use ordinary home appliances for melting, but a proffesional melter is best for that perpose.

Here's an example from soapwizards.com:

Melters - Find it yourself or buy it from us. The first tool most soapers will need is the melter. We find that the electric roaster is ideal for most starting M&P soapers. It holds 4-1/2 gallons of soap, has no hot spots to burn the soap, and runs off household current. A great way to start. When you are ready to enter the big leagues, we also sell 10 gallon, 25 gallon, and 70 gallon, professional, water jacketed melters. We think ours are the best and the least expensive.
